How is my calorie target worked out?
Your daily burn starts as your weight in pounds times ten, a rough resting estimate. If you know your own number, switch the estimate off in Settings and type it in. Your target is that burn minus the deficit you chose (250, 500 or 750 calories), and never less than 1,200 calories a day.
Why are my evening meals smaller and lower in carbs?
That is the idea behind the app: carbs early, protein late, and the kitchen closes at 7 PM or three hours before bed, whichever comes first. You can change the times, the number of meals and the meal sizes in Settings.
I'm not getting meal reminders
Check iPhone Settings → Notifications → NutraTrim and make sure alerts are allowed. Open the app now and then: it lines up about two weeks of reminders at a time.
What does a workout do?
You choose in Settings → Workouts: add it to your deficit, eat back half, or eat it all back. Food you earn is added to the meals still to come that day. With Apple Health on, workouts from your Apple Watch are counted automatically, so don't also log them by hand.
How accurate is the plate scanner?
It is an estimate and can be off by 20% or more, mostly on portion size. For the best result, shoot from straight above in good light with the whole plate in frame and a fork beside it, and add a hint for anything it can't see, such as "fried in butter". You can scan up to 25 plates a day.
Health note
NutraTrim is a planning tool for healthy adults, not medical advice. Talk to your doctor before cutting calories if you are pregnant or nursing, under 18, have diabetes or another medical condition, take medication affected by meals, or have a history of eating disorders.
